Hidden Presents May Not Be Insured Say Abbey National
Published: 27/06/08
In the run up to Christmas shoppers are being advised by Abbey National not to hide gifts at other peoples houses as they are not normally covered by the contents insurance policy.
Research indicates that almost GBP950 million worth of gifts are hidden in other peoples homes so this is not a small problem. Although it may seem like a good idea to keep presents away from prying eyes the potential cost if there is loss or damage is not worth it.
The Abbey National study found that around forty percent of people had not even thought about the insurance aspect of the hidden gifts, although most of them, having been made aware of the issue, were doing something about it. At times it can be difficult to hide some presents, but a few minutes spent deciding where to put them in ones own home can be time well spent.
