Half of UK homes do not have basic fire protection says Halifax

A study conducted by Halifax the house insurance specialist has revealed that almost half of homes in the UK do not have basic fire protection installed in their property like a smoke alarm.
Also, just fewer than twenty per cent of homeowners did not have any home contents insurance.
According to the Halifax the average cost of fire damage to a property is around eight thousand pounds. Plus last year they had around two thousand claims that were fire damage related.
Carrying out fire safety measures in your home can save you money as will a good home insurance policy.
