Direct Line Advice On Storm Protection
Published: 29/09/08
The UK is often hit by storms, seemingly more than ever over the last couple of years. This is why Direct Line are aiming to help their home insurance customers by offering a few tips on how to best protect their property against severe weather conditions.
One of the first things to consider, say Direct Line, are the items outside. It is well worthwhile checking drainpipes and gutters to make sure they are secure and also clear from leaves and other debris. Also make sure any items outside the house, in the garden perhaps, are either placed in a garage or shed. Alternatively they can be secured to something secure, basically making sure they are not free to be carried on the storm.
A practical piece of advice from Direct Line for those inside the property is to make sure they know where the gas, electric and water controls are. It is also very sensible to have a torch close by, should the property be affected at night.
