Cornhill Direct Insurance Warning For Winter
Published: 10/06/08
Homeowners are being warned to check they have insurance in place should the cold winter weather adversely affect their properties.
A survey carried out by Cornhill Direct Insurance shows that over forty percent of homeowners do not have lagging on their water pipes, with just under forty percent thinking they can’t do anything to protect their homes against cold weather.
These figures may come as a surprise to some, or perhaps that should be shock, since there are many steps property owners can take to defend against the cold weather. Simple protection of water pipes can be achieved by wrapping them with insulating material. As well as stopping the water from freezing and cracking the pipes it can also take some stress away from the central heating system, which doesn’t have to work quite as hard.
A spokesman from Cornhill Direct also suggested those with policies should check the cover and also ensure the emergency helpline number is kept nearby, just in case anything does happen.
