Check Garage Included In Insurance Cover Say Legal and General
Published: 10/06/08
Legal and General are advising anyone with a garage to make sure their policy does actually cover whatever is kept in there.
The garage is rarely used just to put a car in now, it is far more likely to be full of all manner of things that just wont fit in the house or are more practical out of the way. Now some insurers will not cover the garage under the regular contents policy, based on the fact that it is not as secure as the rest of the house and therefore much more prone to theft and damage.
Of course Legal and General do protect the goods found in the garage, with ten percent of the sum insured value able to be allocated to items in the garage that are stolen or that someone has tried to steal and subsequently damaged.
