Beware Strong Winds Warns Halifax Insurance

Published: 28/08/08

February and March can bring stormy weather as many UK householders know. Last year strong winds and storms caused damage worth around GBP4.5 billion according to a Halifax study.

The Halifax study found that the roofs of over one and a half million UK homes were affected by wind and storm damage, with the average cost of repairs coming in at GBP2,800. That is not the end of the story though as these damaged roofs then let in the elements to cause further damage costing around GBP2.5 billion.

In circumstances like those found in the UK, where the weather really does vary across the year it is very important to ensure protection is in place, both through regular maintenance of properties but also by using home insurance. Taking these steps ensures real peace of mind for the property owner knowing that whatever happens there is a safety net in place.
